The NIMCET application form is filled online on the official NIMCET website. It is not long, but a few fields matter far more than they look, because what you enter is used later at counselling, when it is too late to fix.
This guide follows the order of the 2026 process. The 2027 form is expected to be similar; check the new brochure when it is released.
Before you start
Keep these ready so you can finish in one sitting:
- A personal email address and mobile number you will still use in July.
- Scanned photograph and signature.
- An ID proof (Passport, PAN, Voter ID, Driving Licence or the first page of a bank passbook).
- Class X certificate or birth certificate.
- Degree mark sheets (self-attested scans).
- Category, PwD or final-year certificates, if they apply.
- A payment method for the fee.
The exact file sizes are listed in the brochure; our guide to the 2026 brochure explains the other rules you should know before applying.
Step 1: Register
Create your account with your name, date of birth, email and mobile number. You will receive a User ID; save it with your password.
Only one account. The 2026 brochure allows a single login per candidate, and says multiple logins will be viewed seriously.
Step 2: Personal details
Enter your details exactly as they appear on your Class X certificate and ID proof. Pay attention to:
- Name spelling and the order of first and last names.
- Date of birth, which is also a tie-breaker in ranking.
- Category: OPEN, OPEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST, plus PwD status. Choose only what you can prove with a valid certificate.
Step 3: Academic details
Fill in your degree, university, year of passing (or "appearing" if you are in your final year) and your aggregate percentage or CGPA as it appears on your mark sheets.
Two rules from the brochure apply here:
- Enter the CGPA if your university gives a CGPA. Do not convert it to a percentage.
- Make sure Mathematics or Statistics appears in your degree subjects, unless you hold a B.E./B.Tech.
Step 4: Choose exam cities
You pick three exam cities in order of preference. The 2026 brochure listed about 40 cities across the country. Some practical points:
- Low-demand centres can be cancelled, and you are then moved to your next choice.
- Once assigned, a centre cannot be changed on request.
- Choose cities you can actually reach on a Saturday afternoon in June.
Step 5: Upload documents
Upload each file in the format the form asks for (photos and signatures as images, certificates as PDFs). A blurred mark sheet or a cropped signature is one of the most common reasons for a form being flagged.
Step 6: Pay the fee
| Category | Fee (2026) |
|---|---|
| OPEN, OPEN-EWS, OBC | ₹2,500 |
| SC, ST, PwD | ₹1,250 |
The fee is non-refundable. Wait for the payment confirmation before closing the page.
Step 7: Review, submit and save
Read every page once more before final submission. After submitting, download the confirmation page and keep it with your login details.
If you spot a mistake later
There is a short edit window after the application deadline (5–7 May in 2026). It is meant for corrections, so use it rather than creating a new account. Which fields can be changed depends on that year's rules.
Mistakes that cause trouble later
- Entering a percentage when your degree uses CGPA.
- Claiming a category without a certificate in the right format and date range.
- Using an email or phone number you might lose access to.
- Leaving payment until the last day, when portals are slow.
- Choosing exam cities without checking travel time.
