"Which NIT has the best MCA placements?" is one of the most searched NIMCET questions after the result. The honest answer is that the data is patchy: institutes publish MCA placement figures in different formats and years, and many sites mix B.Tech. and MCA numbers. So before any ranking, it helps to know what to look for.
Which numbers to trust
| Number | What it tells you | Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Percentage placed | How many eligible students got offers | Check the denominator: eligible vs registered vs total batch |
| Median package | The middle salary; half earned more, half less | Best single indicator of a typical outcome |
| Average package | The mean salary | Pulled up by a few high offers |
| Highest package | The single best offer | Says little about the typical student |
Always prefer MCA-specific figures from the institute's own training and placement reports. Institute-wide figures usually include B.Tech. students.
Recently reported figures
The figures below have been reported by an MCA-entrance site citing the institutes' programme-level placement data. We have not been able to verify them directly from the institutes' official documents, so treat them as indicative and check the latest placement reports yourself.
| Institute | Year | Average | Median | Highest | Placed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MNNIT Allahabad (MCA) | 2026 | ₹15.49 LPA | ₹10.02 LPA | ₹39 LPA | 80 of 112 eligible (about 71%) |
| NIT Warangal (MCA) | 2025 | about ₹13.53 LPA | about ₹12.36 LPA | about ₹39.10 LPA | about 92% |
Notice the gap between average and median at MNNIT in this data: a few high offers lift the average well above the typical outcome. That is exactly why the median matters. The two institutes' figures are also from different years and may be calculated differently, so do not compare them too precisely.
For the other participating institutes, we did not find comparable recent MCA-specific figures from a reliable source.
Weighing placements against fees
| Seat type (2026) | Tuition per semester |
|---|---|
| Most regular NIT seats | ₹35,000 |
| NIT Patna (regular) | ₹50,000 |
| Self-financing seats (NIT Delhi, NIT Kurukshetra) | ₹1,00,000 |
| Self-financing seats (NIT Patna) | ₹1,25,000 |
| IIIT Bhopal | ₹1,21,275 |
| IIIT Vadodara | ₹1,25,000 |
Source: NIMCET 2026 brochure (tuition only). A regular NIT seat at ₹35,000 a semester costs far less over the programme than a self-financing seat, so the placement difference needs to be large to justify the higher fee.
A checklist for comparing institutes
- Find the latest MCA placement report on each institute's website.
- Note the median, the percentage placed and the number of eligible students.
- Look at who recruits: product companies, services companies, startups.
- Compare against the total cost, including hostel and mess.
- Factor in location and your own interests (for example, NIT Patna's specialised programmes).

Frequently Asked Questions
Which NIT is best for MCA placements?
It depends on the year and the data used. Recently reported figures for MNNIT Allahabad and NIT Warangal are strong, but check each institute's latest MCA placement report.
Should I look at the average or the median package?
The median, because a few high offers can pull the average up.
Are institute-wide placement figures useful for MCA?
Not very. They usually include B.Tech. students; look for MCA-specific data.
Is a self-financing MCA seat worth the higher fee?
Compare the total cost with MCA-specific placement data for that institute before deciding.
