How to read the matrix
Self-financing seats cost more
Self-financing programmes have much higher tuition. In 2026, the brochure listed ₹1,00,000 per semester for the self-financing seats at NIT Delhi and NIT Kurukshetra and ₹1,25,000 at NIT Patna's self-financing programmes, against ₹35,000 for most regular NIT seats. Check the fee before you list a self-financing seat as a choice.
Specialised programmes at NIT Patna
NIT Patna's seats were split across two named MCA programmes: Data Sciences and Informatics, and AI and IoT. Each appears as its own choice in counselling.
Two IIIT campuses
IIIT Vadodara's seats were split between the Gandhinagar campus and the International campus at Diu. They are separate choices.
Small intakes fill fast
NIT Delhi had only 10 regular seats in 2026. A small intake usually means a high closing rank in the order of preference, so do not rely on it as a backup.

How the matrix has changed
The list of institutes changes between years. The 2024 brochure listed 11 participating institutes, including NITK Surathkal; the 2026 list had 11 NITs and 2 IIITs without Surathkal, and with NIT Delhi, NIT Meghalaya and IIIT Vadodara.
