The NIMCET result is a rank card you download from your login. There is no printed merit list mailed to you. In 2026 the result was scheduled for 29 June, 5 PM (tentative); in 2025 it was announced for 27 June.

How to check it

Step 1: Log in on the official NIMCET portal.

Step 2: Open the result or rank card link.

Step 3: Download and save the rank card. The 2026 brochure says no separate rank statement is sent.

Keep it with your admit card; you will need both for counselling.

How ranks are decided

Ranks are based on total marks out of 1,000. Higher total means a better rank.

Who does not get a rank

The brochure disqualifies candidates who score:

  • zero or negative marks in Mathematics, or
  • zero or negative marks in total.

Only candidates with a rank are eligible for admission. This is one reason careless guessing in Mathematics is risky.

How ties are broken

If two candidates have the same total, the brochure applies these checks in order:

OrderTie-breaker
1Higher marks in Mathematics
2Higher marks in Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning
3Higher marks in Computer Awareness
4Older candidate
5Random selection by computer

Here's a simple example. Two candidates both score 520:

Candidate ACandidate B
Mathematics300288
Reasoning150162
Computer4848
English2222
Total520520

Candidate A ranks higher, because the first tie-breaker is Mathematics.

What your rank is (and is not) used for

  • It is used for MCA admission at the participating NITs and IIITs through NIMCET counselling.
  • It is not used by other universities, according to the brochure.
  • It does not guarantee a seat. Seats depend on your rank, your category, your choices and how many seats each institute has.

After the result

Counselling registration opened the very next day in 2026 (30 June). Before it opens:

  1. Note your rank and category.
  2. Look at the previous year's opening and closing ranks on the portal to see which institutes are realistic.
  3. Get your documents ready, especially category certificates in the right date range.
  4. Read the counselling schedule so you do not miss choice locking.
