You submitted the form, paid the fee, and a day later noticed your CGPA is entered as a percentage. It happens to a lot of people. NIMCET gives you one short chance to fix it: the edit window.
When the edit window opens
In 2026 the edit window ran from 5 May (10 AM) to 7 May (5 PM), a few days after the 1 May application deadline. In 2024 it ran from 24 to 26 April. So expect a window of about three days, shortly after registration closes. The exact dates for 2027 will be in the new brochure.
Three days is not long. Put a reminder in your phone the day you submit.
How to use it
Step 1: Log in on the official NIMCET portal with your existing User ID and password.
Step 2: Open your application. During the window, the fields that are allowed to be edited become editable.
Step 3: Make the correction, re-check the related fields (for example, if you change your category, check the certificate upload too).
Step 4: Save, submit again and download the updated confirmation.
Which fields are editable, and whether a change that affects the fee needs an extra payment, is set each year. Follow the instructions shown on the portal during the window.
What to check before you edit
Use the window to re-read your whole form, not just the field you know is wrong. These are the details that cause problems at counselling:
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Name and date of birth | Must match your ID and Class X certificate; date of birth is also a tie-breaker |
| Category and PwD status | You must prove it at counselling with a valid certificate |
| Percentage or CGPA | Must match your mark sheets; CGPA cannot be converted to a percentage |
| Qualifying degree | Must show Mathematics or Statistics, or be a B.E./B.Tech. |
| Final-year status | Needs the Annexure V certificate |
| Uploaded files | Clear, complete and in the right format |
| Exam city choices | Cannot be changed on request once a centre is assigned |
Mistakes you should fix
- A category you cannot prove. If you selected OBC-NCL or EWS but your certificate is not in the required date range, it is better to correct now than lose the seat later.
- An overstated aggregate. The brochure warns that wrong details found later lead to cancellation.
- A wrong email or phone number. All official communication goes there.
- A blurred or wrong document upload.
If the window has closed
Do not create a new account; the brochure allows one login per candidate. Instead:
- Write to the help desk email listed in that year's brochure, with your application number and the exact error.
- Keep proof of what the correct detail should be.
- Carry the correct original documents to counselling.
There is no guarantee a correction will be accepted outside the window, which is why using it on time matters.
For the full list of what to enter in each part of the form, see how to fill the NIMCET application form.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the NIMCET correction window?
In 2026 it ran from 5 to 7 May, just after the application deadline. Check the new brochure for 2027 dates.
Can I change my exam city in the correction window?
That depends on the rules for that year's window. Once a centre is assigned, the brochure says it cannot be changed on request.
Can I make a new application instead of editing?
No. Only one login per candidate is allowed.
What if I find a mistake after the window closes?
Contact the help desk listed in the brochure with proof, and carry correct documents to counselling.
