Gathering documents is the dull part of applying, and it is where most last-minute panic comes from. Do it a week before you sit down to fill the form, and the form itself takes under an hour.
At registration: what to upload
These requirements are from the NIMCET 2026 brochure.

| Category certificate | OBC-NCL, EWS, SC or ST, if claimed | |
| PwD certificate | In the brochure's format, if claimed | |
| Annexure V | Final-year candidates only |
Check the 2027 brochure for any change in sizes before you scan.
Getting the scans right
- Self-attest before scanning. Sign each mark sheet copy as "self-attested" and then scan it.
- Combine pages sensibly. If your mark sheets run to several pages, merge them in order into one clear PDF per document.
- Check readability at 100% zoom. If you cannot read the marks on screen, nobody checking it can either.
- Stay under the size limit by reducing resolution, not by cropping.
- Use the same ID you will carry to the exam and to counselling. The brochure asks for the same proof of identity at those stages.
The certificate dates that matter
For 2026, the OBC-NCL and EWS certificates had to be issued on or after 1 April 2025 for upload, with originals issued on or after 1 April 2026 for reporting. If your certificate is older, apply for a new one now; local offices can take weeks.
At the exam
- Your admit card, printed on a laser printer.
- The same original photo ID you uploaded.
At counselling and reporting
The brochure says documents are not physically checked when you apply. They are checked later, so keep originals and copies of everything you uploaded, plus:
- Final degree mark sheets and certificate (or proof of eligibility by the deadline if you were in your final year).
- Valid category and PwD certificates in the required formats and date range.
- Your NIMCET rank card and allotment letter.
Each institute may ask for more documents at reporting; check its notice.
